Manufacturing Lighting: Plan Around Machines, Inspection and Maintenance

Manufacturing spaces combine production, inspection, circulation and servicing tasks. These zones can require different distributions and controls even when they share the same ceiling.

Commercial LED lighting for manufacturing and assembly facilities

Manufacturing spaces combine production, inspection, circulation and servicing tasks. These zones can require different distributions and controls even when they share the same ceiling.

Prepare the site information

  1. Mark machines, conveyors, inspection stations and work-plane positions on the floor plan.
  2. Record obstructions and the direction workers view parts, so the proposal can address shadows and reflections.
  3. Separate dusty, hot or exposed zones from ordinary indoor areas before selecting environmental ratings.
  4. Plan access to fixtures around production schedules and retain the chosen model and settings for maintenance.

Resolve the model-specific questions

What color temperature is common for manufacturing areas?

4000K and 5000K are common choices, but project requirements and task visibility should guide selection.

Is high CRI important for assembly work?

It can be important for inspection, color recognition and detailed work. Check the CRI requirement for the task.

Can fixtures be dimmed by zone?

Many commercial LED systems can use 0-10V controls for zone-based dimming when the fixture driver supports it.

What should I check for harsh production areas?

Review IP rating, ambient temperature range, location rating and construction before choosing a fixture.

What certifications should I verify?

Check each product page for the certifications required by the project, such as UL, ETL, DLC or FCC where applicable.

Turn the plan into an order

Keep a schedule with one line per area and selected SKU. Include the variant, fixture count, pack count, mounting accessories and control components. Mark any unconfirmed requirement explicitly so it can be resolved before the order is finalized.

Retain the specification sheet and installation instructions for the selected model with the project records. If a listed setting, connection or accessory appears inconsistent, request clarification for that exact SKU rather than transferring information from a neighboring product.
