How to Verify a DLC Listing Before Buying Commercial LED Lights

Match the exact model to the current DLC QPL, keep a verification record, and check utility incentive conditions separately before ordering.

Verify a DLC claim using the current Qualified Products List and the exact product identity. A logo on a product page or an older specification sheet is a starting point, not the complete purchasing record. Confirm the listing first, then check your project’s incentive rules separately.

Start with a product identity sheet

Before comparing quotations, ask each supplier for the manufacturer or listed brand, complete manufacturer model number, selected options and DLC Product ID. Keep the seller’s sales SKU in a separate field: it may contain pack-size or order-management information that is not the listed model number.

Record Why it belongs in the file
Seller SKU and pack quantity Identifies the item and quantity being purchased.
Listed brand and full model Allows a precise match with the qualification record.
DLC Product ID and current record Gives the project team a reference to recheck.
Selected controls and other options Helps resolve differences between the quote and listing.
Check date and program response Preserves what was verified and when.

Check the official listing

Use the official DLC QPL (external reference). Open the relevant product record and compare its identity and classification with the proposed equipment. If a search produces several similar names, do not select one simply because its wattage looks close.

DLC’s QPL explanation (external reference) describes the information available in a listing. If the manufacturer model or brand differs from the quotation, ask the supplier to reconcile the difference before relying on qualification. Keep the current record with your purchasing documents.

Why rechecking matters during the 2026 transition

DLC’s October 1, 2026 transition FAQ (external reference) describes an October 9 update-application deadline and delisting after December 15, 2026 for products not updated to the specified new requirements. It also explains that submitting by the deadline does not guarantee uninterrupted listing.

For a purchase being planned now, verify the actual product record and ask the project program how it handles listing status at the relevant stage. Do not assume an old document establishes eligibility for a later order. This guide does not determine the status of any particular LumvoLED product.

A listed product is only part of the incentive check

Check the utility or program serving the installation address. Ask about eligible equipment, controls, participating sellers, project timing, approvals and documentation. Resolve those conditions before treating an incentive as a confirmed reduction in project cost.

For example, the Mass Save instant-lighting program (external reference) describes requirements concerning integral controls and participating distributors, alongside customer and installation conditions. These are program-specific conditions, not a nationwide rule. LumvoLED participation or eligibility is not established by this example.

Use a verification status column in your quote comparison

Mark each line as confirmed, awaiting clarification or not applicable. Keep equipment price and a possible incentive in separate columns until the program confirms the relevant conditions. If a proposed substitute changes the manufacturer model or options, repeat the identity and program checks.

Ask your supplier to clarify unresolved model details in writing. A description such as “same series” or “sensor-ready” should not replace the record needed by your project administrator.

Prepare an itemized lighting request

When requesting a project quote, include the installation location, exact proposed equipment, fixture and pack quantities, intended controls and the program you plan to use. Identify the documents still needed rather than assuming every item in a product series has the same qualification.

Use our LED specification checklist to organize the technical comparison, and sensor-package guide to separate a connection base from an included sensor. Recheck the official sources when the project moves forward.
